Attempt IAS exams in Malayalam
Has your lack of English proficiency deterred you from dreaming big? Have you ever buried your IAS dreams for your non-mastery over the English language? If so, it’s high time you started revisiting your dreams and aspirations! The Absolute IAS Academy, one of the pioneering IAS coaching institutes, offers to train you in your mother tongue! It provides IAS training in Malayalam. Unbelievable isn’t it? But here is an academy aiming to bring the underserved people to the forefront of society.
The 8th schedule in the Indian Constitution states that applicants can write exams in any of their scheduled languages. Constitution has enlisted 21 scheduled languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Maithili, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Some civil aspirants write exams in either of these scheduled languages. Even though we have had the opportunity to write IAS, IFS, and IPS exams in Malayalam since 1964, most of the students are unaware of the option and the lack of proper platforms to provide guidance has further discouraged children from coming forward to pursue this option.
While UPSC coaching centres in other states provide training in vernacular language, it has not been encouraged in India.
The Absolute IAS academy was established in 2010 by Mr. Jobin S Kottaram, to address this gap. There are talented and bright minds in the socially and economically backward regions of Kerala, who must have studied in Malayalam medium schools. Their talents should never go unrecognised.
Mr. Jobin, who is also an international motivational speaker and a former civil service aspirant has taken efforts to translate almost all IAS learning materials into Malayalam. This includes books like the Indian polity, the art and culture of India, and the ‘Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude’ book. There are also simplified videos available on YouTube for various concepts. The Academy has centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode that provides Malayalam coaching. Through this, you can write prelims, and mains exams and attend the final interview in Malayalam. Even though prelims may have objective-type questions in English, Absolute IAS academy provides proper coaching for the same, along with training in Malayalam.
Once you have cleared the exam and interviews in the regional language, special coaching will be provided to develop your English communication skills.
Mahatma Gandhi has said, “If the English educated neglect, as they have done and even now continue, as some do, to be ignorant of their mother tongue, linguistic starvation will abide.” If Muhammed Ali Shihab from a remote village in Malappuram can write the IAS exam in Malayalam and become an IAS topper, what is stopping you?
So let us shed our fears of being non-fluent in English and join the Malayalam coaching classes of Absolute IAS academy to take the right route towards achieving your UPSC goals!
